The F-105G (“Wild Weasel”) was a two seat version of the Thunderchief. These aircraft were used extensively to destroy North Vietnamese Surface-to-Air Missile Radar Sites.  This aircraft was capable of mach 2.08 at high altitude and over mach at low elevation.  Republic Aviation Corporation was originally named Seversky Aircraft Company.  In 1965, its acquisition by Fairchild was completed.  After various machinations the US subsidiary of the Israeli company Elbit Systems acquired the operations.
